Frances Bonikowski

Biography

Joining NRC since its inception in 2016, Frances has led the development of the business and is now Managing Director.

As part of her role, Frances has overall responsibility for business operations, compliance with the administration team and operational performance. With a background in housing and community-based support services, she previously worked in Local Authority Housing Management before joining NRC Medical Experts.

Biography

Michelle Kudhail is an experienced neurological physiotherapist expert witness, and also works to support legal teams to navigate expert instruction with clarity and confidence.

Her combined clinical and medico-legal experience brings a strong understanding of complex neurological conditions and how these translate into clear, structured evidence for the court. She works closely with solicitors to guide expert selection and ensure the right input is secured for each case.

Michelle has over 30 years of clinical experience across the NHS and independent sector, working in specialist neurological settings in the UK and the USA. She has held clinical lead roles within multidisciplinary teams and has played a key role in developing neurorehabilitation services across the UK.

Claire MacLaine

Biography

Claire MacLaine joins the NRC team to support the recruitment of quality experts to guide solicitors towards the most appropriate clinicians to support their client’s case.

Claire is a neurological adult speech and language therapist and expert witness, and with her range of clinical experience in complex cases, she brings a depth and breadth of recommendations to her reports.

Claire has 30 years of clinical experience within the NHS and private providers. She is from Scotland and has worked clinically in England and New Zealand in adult neurology and surgery in acute, rehabilitations, and community services. Specialising in brain injury, she has been an educational tutor and clinical specialist in health settings, and has worked in case management in catastrophic personal injury.

Biography

Kate McMullen’s expertise and experience in managing neurorehabilitation medico-legal cases is invaluable to NRC Medical Experts. She has extensive knowledge of the medico-legal process which allows her to advise on the selection of experts for such cases. In her role as Professor Mike Barnes’ personal assistant for nearly three decades prior to joining NRC, she gained a deep understanding of how to navigate the complexities of neurorehabilitation cases.

At NRC, Kate oversees the Head Office Operations team, coordinating instructions, appointments, reports, and communication between solicitors and experts in order to provide a timely and high quality service. Her vast experience provides an important resource that allows us to successfully provide assistance with complicated cases that require specialised expertise.

EDMUND BONIKOWSKI

Dr Edmund Bonikowski

Biography

A consultant in rehabilitation medicine with over 25-years experience, Dr Bonikowski has held acute and community-based NHS posts in neurological and amputee rehabilitation. Consultant at the Somerset Neurological Rehabilitation Centre and leading the expansion of NHS neurological rehabilitation services in Somerset, he’s also been a consultant to several independent inpatient providers. He founded and led the independent rehabilitation and case management provider, Kynixa, between 2001 and 2010 which delivered comprehensive clinical and vocational rehabilitation programmes to approximately 1200 people severely injured in accidents. In April 2014, Dr Bonikowski began accepting medico-legal referrals and now completes around 30 reports each year for people with brain, spinal cord and brachial plexus injuries arising from accidents and clinical negligence.
